If you would have told me this time last year that 2014 would have been one of the best years of my life, I think I probably would have told you to get lost! I gained some really valuable work experience, worked my absolute arse off at uni, came out with some of the best grades I ever have, went on holiday with my boyfriend Ryan for the first time to Alanya, Turkey, I moved to Madrid for a study abroad year, celebrated my 21st birthday there and went to Bremen, Germany. Of course I have had brilliant times in between with my friends and family, and I have also had some not so great moments, especially within the first couple of weeks of moving to Madrid, trying to get my head around the whole experience was a little hard at first, but now I couldn't be happier.
For 2015, I have a lot of plans, a lot of things I want to do but I don't want to count them as 'New Years Resolutions', because I think naming them that makes them sound like a chore. Instead, I'm going to call it my '2015 Bucket List'.
Become a Tight Arse- Apologies for the language and I don't mean this literally but in terms of money. Being a student, times are always hard. However, I don't help myself with impulsive buys, dining out a lot more than I should, wasting food and spending a couple of pound here and there on useless things. My boyfriend and I have both said we want to try and practically live like we are the poorest people in the land (sounds fun doesn't it?!) in order for us to save and spend our money on better things!
Travel More- Leading on from the last point, I want to scrimp and save to enable me to travel more. I'm living in Madrid for goodness sake, and what better excuse is there?! Whether it's spending a day in another part of Madrid I haven't yet reached, spending a weekend in another part of Spain, saving for interrailing or booking cheap flights to a load of different destinations around Europe. From April, I'm only in Uni once or twice a week and this will give me the ideal opportunity.
Learn Spanish- This is a little late, and something I already wish I had put a lot more time into. I'm living in Spain and can only speak the barest minimum, just enough to get me by really. I'm not going to tell myself that I have to speak it fluently before I leave because languages aren't my forte, but I really am going to try my best.
Don't Waste Time Worrying on Stupid Things- Now, I think a lot of us are probably guilty of this. I will sit there and worry for hours about silly little things, whether it's something someone said to me hours ago that I wasn't happy with, Uni work that isn't due in for a long time and just things that I can't change in general. Being less of a worrier will definitely help me become a happier person.
Spend Time on my Camera Skills- Seeing as I'm a Media Production student, I should know my camera inside out. I'm pretty much getting there and everything I do is giving me a bit more confidence for the next time. I think I'm getting there slowly but surely with my photography, I'm starting to actually be happy with some of my pictures but I want to start filming more things, documenting trips or even setting myself small briefs to use my creativity and put it into learning a skill (that I should probably already know).
Don't Forget About my Blog- If you look back on my old posts, you'll see how much I have dipped in and out of blogging over the years that I have actually owned this blog, and I think at the moment is the most consistent I have ever been with it. I did have a little break before and during Christmas and didn't get round to a lot of blog posts that I had planned to do because 'life got in the way'. I have to remind myself in these situations how much I love blogging and that it doesn't take up a massive chunk of my day to write a post and browse among other blogs!
A little bit of a jumble of a post, but hopefully not a bad one! I hope you all had a fab New Years Eve (I got a lot more drunk than I was supposed to, haha) and I wish you all luck in the World for the year ahead!
¡Hasta Luego!
Sam xx

ReplyDeleteGood luck with your list, I lived in Spain for about 3 years and I really struggled with it at first, languages aren't my forte either! But as time went on it became easier, I found watching TV with English subtitles helped me, as well as listening to Spanish music, music is much easier to remember! May 2015 be everything you want it to be and more :)

It definitely does all add up. You should save the money you're saving in a pot at home so you can physically see how much you're saving! xx

ReplyDeleteI hope you can learn spanish, that's my mother tongue and it's such a nice language, very complex, though. You will find some difficulty in verbs maybe, but nothing is impossible!

Hearing the language being spoken, it's definitely one of the nicer sounding languages! I'm really trying :) xx
DeleteI'm definitely with you on stopping impulse buys, it hurts me to even think about how much money I spent on unnecessary things in 2014! I've nominated you for the Liebster Award, which you can find on my blog here http://clocloset.blogspot.co.uk/2015/01/the-liebster-award.html xox
ReplyDeleteIt's so painful isn't it! It has sort of gone well so far, sort of not, haha. Thanks so much I will definitely check it out! xx
